 Queen's Baton Relay
The Delhi 2010 Baton Relay was launched on 29th October 2009 at Buckingham Palace in London, with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II handing the Baton to the Honorable President of India. On November 19th it reached VCP with six year 6 children carrying the baton through the grounds on its way to the handover to the next school. Every child had the opportunity to touch the baton as it passed by. It has passed through the UK before us, is passing on through Europe next week and into Africa the week after. Eventually it will reach Delhi in time for the opening ceremony for the 2010 Commonwealth Games.  Swine Flu
VCP received the Swine Flu vaccination on 12th November, however, it is expected to take between 10 and 14 days before those children vaccinated will have developed a full immunity. Those children who have had direct contact with someone with swine flu will be offered tamiflu as a precaution. It obviously remains important for children who exhibit flu-like symptoms such as a temperature above 38C or fever to stay at home and contact their GP in order to prevent further spread of the disease, however, all children not exhibiting flu-like symptoms, whether taking Tamiflu or not, are expected to attend school as normal.
